Research ongoing.....

Current research two Projects:

1. Large Macaw Husbandry Survey

Assessing captive environments to improve captive breeding success of: Anodorhynchus, Cyanopsitta and Ara in Zoos and private bird collections".

Aims of the research project: To gather detailed information how to improve the captive environment to be able to avoid stereotypes and that with the help of survey data, guidelines can be developed, that will lead to an increase in captive breeding success for endangered macaws.

Please support this project as already many professional and private institutions have done so far, by participating in this survey. If you have one ore more breeding pairs of the following species:

Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus, Anodorhynchus leari, Cyanopsitta spixii, Ara glaucogularis, Ara macao, Ara ambigua, Ara militaris and Ara rubrogenys.

All information given is strictly confidential and used to implement data analysis only. Contact us and we send you the information in detail.

2. The effect of a contra freeloading device and different designed captive environments into the behaviour time budget of: Pyrrhura frontalis chiripepe

Aims of the research project:
A: to investigate if an enriched interior of an aviary has a significant influence on behaviour time budget.
B: to investigate if the enriched interior of the aviary has a significant influence on climbing time budget spent on aviary mesh.
C: to investigate whether there is a significant preference between a contra freeloading device and a freeloading device.
